Military Salute--Lance Corporal Andrew Wallace

A Beaufort Marine is making a lot of noise at Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort, earning his quite an honor.

As an ordinance man with Marine Fighter Attack Squadron 312, it's Lance Corporal Andrew Wallace's job to help load ammunition on the jets.

"LCpl Wallace has been here for a little under a year and since he's been here, he's hit the ground running," said the Checkerboard's Sgt John Galleger.

In fact, it's LCpl Wallace's constant pursuit of excellence that has helped him earn the title of the Marine Corps's 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing "Marine of the Quarter". While he's humble about the honor, he's worked hard to achieve it.

"He had to go against 30 marines in our shop alone and from there to the Mag Board, which is hundreds of marines and the MAW board which is probably thousands of marines," said Sgt Galleger.

LCpl Wallace joined the Marine Corps right out of high school nearly two years ago. A decision he says he's never regretted."

"It's a good way to start you life off, builds discipline, teamwork," said LCpl Wallace.

With all that's going on with the world, getting a chance to serve his country is something that makes LCpl Wallace proud.

"It feels great," said LCpl Wallace. "You see a lot of people back home at school and they kind of forget about all that's going on overseas but it feels good to be a part of protecting our country and serving your country, a lot of people take that for granted."

For his dedication and service to our country we at WTOC Salute, Lance Corporal Andrew Wallace.
