Thompson was prone to trash talking our beloved Corps. Even in his first novel, The Rum Diary(1959) he created a buffoonish Marine character. I read Generation of Swine years ago and he had more crap to say. I've been curious for a while now about his antipathy towards leathernecks. Did one of you old salts kick his ass and run off with his girlfriend back in the day? Just curious. Semper Fi.
