I'm a defense contractor in Virginia, and I've been supporting troops overseas with packages quite often in the past year, along with the people on my website. I was contacted by a support group concerning a Marine Lt. Col. in need of supplies for her men. I jumped at the chance, emailing the "Marine" and carrying on several email conversations before I realized something was wrong. The rest of the story I've put on a section of my website, which can be read here -

http://www.defendourfreedom.com/StolenValor.html (http://www.defendourfreedom.com/StolenValor.html)

In addition to what I've put on the website, I've been contacted by military personnel who read about my interaction with her and wanted to report that she had asked them for military apparel, patches, purple hearts, bullet resistant vests and thousands of dollars. A lot of people are out a lot of money. I've reported this to the FBI, but since she's in South Africa the best we can hope for is shutting her and others down as we find them, ruining their scams.

The woman actually has an account here under the name cmdrtraina and has accounts at ************* (http://*************/) and other websites. I've been tracking her down and ruining her scam all over the internet.

Through my interaction with all branches of the military in my job I've grown to respect and support them even more than when I was young and wide eyed at anything military. Seeing someone trample on the Marine Corps, our administration, and our troops' morale infurates me. I hope you'll join me in keeping an eye out for others who would use the good name of the Corps or the military in general for their personal gain, and submit them both to law enforcement and to the Stolen Valor site to serve as a warning to others.

Not surprising, really. They are all over the damn place.

Thanks for exposing the poser.

Yeah, it was pretty amazing that this person was asking for care packages and things, and had such an elaborate story worked out.

They often do. The cover stories 'look good on paper' but can usually be seen through by anyone with some research or actual working knowledge.

I have taken appropriate action and notified our staff. Thank you for the heads up. I would love to see her prosecuted.

Thanks Jim!

If I hear more I'd be glad to share. I help Marines and soldiers train every day. I know how much they put in, and they deserve the recognition they get. The phonies deserve a swift kick in the rear, and I intend to give them the virtual version.

Good Job! Now drag her to Iraq as an MWR toy. Jeannie, can you spell "Train" ?

As a new member of your fan club, I'll be watching to see how this pans out and look forward to her prosecution. Isn't there someplace where public flogging is still legal?

Sadly, I think it's only Singapore..lol...

I like the MWR train better, tho. But, if she's a poser, chances are, she's probably not a "she" either......LOL

Believe it or not I've run into people online who have met her in person. She apparently has a thick South African accent and is heavier than the photo on my site. The fact that she was requesting military apparel AND has visited the US led me to report her to the CIA as well. Never know what someone like that might be involved in, especially if she's trying to make US contacts.

Lots of US contacts she could make here that would be glad to change her life.

Sadly all I've got so far is a PO box address... otherwise I'd be glad to share :D I'm sure with some more digging I could come up with the real deal.

Branch of "Service": Claims to have been a US Navy pilot flying an "F-15" off the USS Constellation, followed by a transfer to the US Marine Corps "Recon Unit."
Stupidity. Hopefully she makes it on to one of the security lists and gets nabbed the next time she's here.
