Do you not have a date for sure yet? I'm just wondering if they are pushing it around a bit
Your still trying to get it pushed back? If you leave on the 14th, I'll be there.
Im leaving the week of the 14th for sure, just not sure what day.
Less than a week! Who's ready?

Tell ya' what, Hawks. After you're at boot camp, I'll wake at 0630 (1.5 hours after you will) and get dressed. I'll get a cup of coffee, watch the sun come up over Lake Crescent, and then I'll calmly scratch my balls in your memory. I will then thank God I'm not where you're at, because once I was.
Good luck, Kiddo.
hahahahahahahahaha, Hawks, you should feel honored.
I'm ready, can't wait to get there!

My best friend is shipping with you and Rolive, look for a skinny, quiet kid with a couple tattoos.
Tell Him to look for a guy with ALOT of tattoos, big stars on the back.

Hey, Hawks,
I'll be thinking of you, too. Except, I'll be waking up at 0800. You should be doing some PT around that time. ; )
Seriously, though. If any of you future Hollywood Marines don't have any visitors or family coming down to see you graduate, drop me a line. I'll be honored to shake the hand of a brand spanking new Marine.
I live in Los Angeles, only 2 hours away.

rvillac2 I dont think my family or anyone will be coming. My parents refuse to support my choice and don't want to be any part of it. So when I asked them if they were coming they said no. I told them I would pay for them to come and they still said no. Not asking you to come to mine, just saying thats awsome you would do that. My parents and family are the one thing that have me bummed about this whole thing. Not one of them is supporting my choice, they all think its the worse move I could have made. They all think I should have finished my last 2 years of college. Ohh well ill have a new family and all new friends once im finished.

Don't feel discouaraged, my mom said all types of things to my brother when he left for Army Infantr OSUT at Ft. Benning. When graduation day came, she was the first person ready to go and the first one to hug him. (She cried as well. for about and hour.)
They show their emotion because they don't want you going to war. No one does in reality, but when they see the end product, they will support.
Remeber they don't hate you, they just don't support you going into the Marines. It's not uncommon, I get the same type of **** from my parents.

For what it is worth, maybe you'll get lucky and have a squad bay that faces San Diego. If so, you may be able to see the fireworks. Or, maybe your DI will be nice and take you to the pit. You could always watch them from what the SEALS call front forward leaning rest position.

I was there in 69 during the 4th of July! We had the previlage of marching in a Parade in one of the close cities, who the hell knows which one, all i saw was the back of the head of the recruit in front of me! I know we were behind the NAVY BAND from San Diego, our SDI told the Drum Major that his Recruits would not march to "ANCHORS AWAY" and they didn't play it! Funny as hell watching him talk to that LT Commander! They mostly played "DIXIE".
