Hi, first I'd like to say that I'm new to this forum. I'm not exactly sure if this is where I post this question since I'm not a Poolee, but if it causes any problems please move it to the appropriate area. I also did a search for this and I couldn't find anything specific enough.

Someone I know is shipping soon, and I'm not really sure how the mailing thing works. Do I have to wait for him to send me a letter before I can send one of my own? And if I do want to reply, what would I have to write down to make sure it gets to him?

Thanks to anyone who helps.

When my friend shipped to boot camp, I had to wait for him to write me before I got his address, but, there are probably some Marines on this board who could get your friends address so you could write him/her faster.

You'll need his name, Platoon #/Batallion#/Company name, I believe.

Thank you for fiilling out your profile, and welcome to the site.

There really is no way to get the platoon number before they send you a letter. You can send mail knowing just the company and batallion he is in, thought it will be delayed. There are several sources online that show when a particular batallion is starting training.
