Lejeune Marines among latest Iraq deaths

WIRE REPORTSThree Camp Lejeune Marines died last week while conducting combat operations in the Al Anbar Province of Iraq.

Lance Cpl. Adam E. Loggins, 27, of Athens, Ala., and Cpl. Christopher Degiovine, 25, of Lone Tree, Colo., died on Thursday.

Loggins was assigned to Company L, 3rd Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment, Regimental Combat Team 6, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force (Forward).

Loggins joined the Marine Corps Jan. 9, 2006, and was trained as a machine gunner. He joined 3/6 on June 17 and was promoted to the rank of lance corporal on Feb. 2. His decorations include the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and the National Defense Service Medal.

Degiovine was assigned to Company A, 2nd Assault Amphibian Battalion, Regimental Combat Team 6, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force (Forward).

Degiovine joined the Marine Corps on Dec. 5, 2005, and was trained as an assault amphibious vehicle crewman, joining 2nd Assault Amphibian Battalion on June 25, 2006. He was promoted to the rank of corporal on Dec. 2, 2006. His decorations include the Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and the National Defense Service Medal.

Sgt. Peter Woodall, 25, of Sarasota, Fla., died Friday in Al Anbar Province, Iraq. He was assigned to Explosive Ordnance Disposal Company, 8th Engineer Support Battalion, 2nd Marine Logistics Group, II Marine Expeditionary Force (Forward).

Woodall joined the Marine Corps on June 19, 2000, and was trained as an explosive ordnance disposal technician. He joined EOD Company on Jan. 16, 2006, and was promoted to the rank of sergeant on Dec. 1, 2004. His decorations include the Purple Heart Medal, two Marine Corps Good Conduct Medals, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Defense Service Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, the Presidential Unit Citation and the Sea Service Deployment Ribbon.
