SHERMAN OAKS, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--HBC Salutes:

What: 300 volunteers, celebrities, dignitaries and members of the
military join together to assemble 15,000 care packages and
letters for troops and marines serving in Iraq and Afghanistan

Where: 15233 Ventura Blvd, West Plaza, Sherman Oaks CA 91403 (Rear
Parking Lot)

When: April 28, 2007 from 9:30 AM - 1:00 PM

On April 28, 2007 more than 300 volunteers, celebrities, dignitaries and members of the military will gather in the Hoffman Brown Company (HBC) parking lot in Sherman Oaks to put together 15,000 care packages and letters of appreciation written by students from many local schools as well as other States to be sent to troops and marines serving in Iraq and Afghanistan. The care packages include items that are not easily accessible when troops are away from camp such as toothbrushes, lotion, soap, baby-wipes, and hot cocoa.

"The letters and care packages will hopefully provide our troops and marines with a small reminder that people back at home care about and are thinking of them. All items in the care packages were donated by HBC customers, business associates and local businesses," said Steven M. Brown, President of HBC.

Mr. Brown added, "This is not a political statement, it's a responsibility that needs to be fulfilled. It is about supporting those who have agreed to protect and serve our great nation. Every American owes these men and women our respect and appreciation."

Lieutenant Colonel Marcus Custer, an Army Green Beret who commanded a Special Forces Battalion in Afghanistan, and who will be one of the featured speakers at the event, said, "I know first hand how these packages can boost the morale of the troops. My Soldiers and I received similar packages in Afghanistan. The idea that people at home are thinking about you - taking the time to put a package together and personally write a letter - it makes a huge difference. It's not so much about what's in the package as much as what the package itself represents."

This year's HBC Salutes event is in honor of Captain Sean Brock (USMC), who was killed in action while stationed in Iraq in February 2005. The HBC team worked closely with members of the Sean Brock Foundation to obtain the materials and letters to be included in the care packages.

"The Sean Brock Foundation is thrilled to help further HBC Salutes with this important event," said Lex McMahon, Executive Director and Co-Founder of the Sean Brock Foundation and a former Marine. "Losing Sean was a tragedy. However, events like HBC Salutes are directly in line with the manner in which Sean lived his life and go a long way towards paying tribute to his memory. We are humbled and honored that HBC Salutes has chosen to honor Sean and that we can help them with this terrific cause."

The care packages are being sent directly to the frontlines through the Operation InterdependenceŽ - a non-profit organization that provides a means for the public to support and serve troops deployed overseas -- Civilian-to-Military Delivery SystemŽ, which supplies the troops with these Civilian Rations or C-Rats. The company motto of "no one left behind" ensures that enough packages are sent so that at mail call everyone in the unit gets a package.
