Wow. Sad. Its come to this. Ads in my Legion magazine say the Army pays $2000 per recruit for referrals. 1/2 after boot and 1/2 after AIT...I think I'm going to start handing out some business cards lol

Doesn't the Marines offer a similar deal in that they offer promotions to those who sign up a few??

Actually, the USMC does NOT offer that deal. However, they have, at least for the past 20 years or more, offered the "guaranteed PFC" deal if you, as a poolee, sign up two more folks.

And, yeah, the money thing (recent article in army times...former MARINE recruiter now in the NG....made over 96,000 bucks signing up people for the guard) does make it sound kinda 'janissary-like'. But, that's apparently what we've come to at this point, it would seem.

At least the money goes to the individual.
