I did swear to support and defend the constitution. I'll be damned if I let this happen without a fight.

Read on. And yes, I'm sparking a political discussion, and no I'm not one of the unoriginal legion of veteran Marines that automatically aligns with republicans. I don't care for democrats either.

Look forward to hearing your opinions.

George W is on his last term. Ask the Neocons if they want to have Hillary or Obama to have these powers. Side step Congress, two step the Supreme Court.

I just looked out the window. Didn't see 100,000 Brownshirts marching down the street.

was watching congressional hearing this morning on CSPAN. dems want us to listen to and fight the war the way "civilian war stratigists" think it should be. i almost fell out of my chair i was laughing so hard. since when is some "book smart" college whiz-kid telling Generals with countless years of leadership ability not to mention COMBAT EXPERIENCE how to fight a war.

Just before Christmas 1934, news of a bizarre plot to install a dictator in the White House surfaced in Washington and New York, and the story—one of unparalleled significance—was promptly smothered by Congress and the establishment press.

Wow, I didn't realize the sky was falling. The writer of this article appears to be intent on sowing doom and gloom by taking isolated incidents and magnifying them exponentially...probably didn't get enough attention as a child.

We are no where near as close to a facist state as we were durring the second world war... libtard step #1... Over exagerate EVERYTHING!

The second word of the 10 steps put me off enough not to go any farther.
Hitler was a SOCIALIST, not a FASCIST. Only similarity is that both believe the state (government) should control everything. Which do you prefer?

Wow. This just made it to the Guardian? I saw this about two years ago on a political website and it was thoroughly debunked on that site. I think I may go look up some of the finer points.

not yet, anyway. that's why they call it "creeping" fascism. People refuse to realize that it's there until it hits them in the face.

I'm not so sure Obama or Clinton would be any better. Especially Clinton. (I almost typed "Clingon". :D)

The main problem with Iraq is that: #1. the people aren't behind it because #2 we didn't go in to win in the first place.

conclone step#1: assume everyone who doesn't agree with me is a liberal.

We really could never have fascism in this country for one reason. Too many illegals with rights here and lawyers willing to back them up.

But oh...., the thought.

So if that is the case did we go into Afganistan to win also? and why does Congress and the Administration always try to micromanage any Military Action taken to defend the Republic?

I was discussing the artical not you. But sure, I'll assume you're a liberal. Its my perogative. I also assume you believe you are more informed than you are.

First question: I don't think so.
Second question: that would be a question for them. My opinion is that when you want to send a military into a war, you should consult with the generals/leaders of the military first.

That's the problem with out current political system, it consists of top-down leadership and those on the top, by and large, haven't the foggiest inkling of an idea what's going on on the ground. They're too busy taking orders from lobbyists and engaging in the scandal-du-jour.
