Back in the late 40s/early 50s, there was a radio show called "Marines In Review!"
It was broadcast from a place called Camp pendleton, and heard on Sunday afternoons--one segment of the program was "The Old Gunny Sez," in which there was always some questions asked of the all-wise old gunny w/the crackling old voice who laid some Marine Corps lore and wisdom on the questioner.
A few years later, 1952, when I myself showed up at CJHP after boot camp, I went to the 12 area theater one night for the movie to find that they were recording the Marines In Review show from there just prior to the movir.
It was interesting, I attended one night when Chesty puller was on the show.
