DALLAS -- A picture taken during the assassination of President John F. Kennedy will be put up for auction on eBay.

Mary Ann Krahmer, whose last name was Moorman at the time, took the "Moorman Polaroid," which shows Kennedy at the moment he was shot. Some conspiracy theorists claim it also shows a gunman on the grassy knoll.

Krahmer said she had no idea the history she captured that day.

"I certainly wasn't thinking that, you know, I'm going to take a picture of the president and it's going to be something historical," she said.

A large copy of the picture is on public display at the Sixth Floor Museum in Dallas, but the original -- with a thumbprint left by an investigator -- has been stored safely out of sight.

"There wasn't a lot they could do with it either," Krahmer said. "They kept it in the safety deposit box."

Krahmer said she decided to put the original photo on eBay when she saw the window from which Oswald allegedly fired was auctioned.

"At my age, why not?" she asked.

Legend Sales' Lou Fausak will handle the sale and try to estimate the value of the photo.

"We can look to find out what things like this have sold for in the past," he said.

Krahmer said she is at peace with her decision, because she will always have the memory of that moment and her place in history.

"I'm just ready to let it go," she said.

The auction is scheduled to start April 16 and will run for 10 days.
