Two Marines from base killed in combat

IRAQ — Two Marines with the 2nd Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment were killed in combat in Al Anbar province here Monday.
The deaths of First Lt. Shaun M. Blue and Lance Cpl. Jesse D. Delatorre were announced by officials at the Twentynine Palms Marine base, where the 2/7, known as the War Dogs, is assigned.
Blue was a 25-year-old platoon commander and Delatorre was a 29-year-old assaultman. Both deployed to Iraq in January.
A resident of Munster, Ind., Blue was born Dec. 28, 1981, and joined the Marine Corps in 2004. He is survived by his parents, James and Deborah Blue.
Delatorre was from Aurora, Ill. He was was born Feb. 9, 1978, and joined the Marine Corps in 2005. His parents, Aureliano and Raquel Delatorre, survive him in death.
Both Marines had earned the National Defense Service Medal and the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal. Blue’s awards also include the Combat Action Ribbon and the Sea Service Deployment Ribbon.
