Marines Officially Welcomed Home

Dozens of Michiana Marines got an official welcome home this weekend!

About one hundred men and women part of South Bend's based Company B gathered at family day at the St. Joseph County Fairgrounds.

It's a chance for the marines to get together after spending nearly 8 months in Iraq.

The group has been home for three weeks now but this was the official homecoming.

“It’s a wonderful time here today. All of the support of the community is coming out and showing up. All of my family is close and it’s nice to meet all the people I've heard about but never seen before tonight,” says Lance Corporal Daniel Lepper.

“It’s called family day and it’s just to get all the Marine Corps families together that have been through deployment and Aaron's death. Just nice to have everybody back home,” says parent Melody Hickok.

Many marines were honored with awards for their service in Iraq.

Company B is still on active duty until May. That means they will report to base regularly until the end of that month.
