I was talking to some kids at school who are in the Civil Air Patrol CAP, who said if you reach a certain rank in that, (CAP) you can be promoted to E-2 right out of boot camp. Is this true?

Thanks for answering all my questions lately, you all have been a big help.

From the Civil Air Patrol for Students section (http://www.cap.gov/visitors/quick_info/for_students.cfm):

INFO FOR STUDENTS
Aviation, Teamwork, Leadership and a Lot of Fun!
If you want to do something with your spare time that really matters…

If you want to learn new technical skills that will help you in the future…

If you want to become a leader and grow stronger and smarter…

Civil Air Patrol’s cadet program could be for you!

Spend your spare time with like-minded guys and girls, ages 12 to 21, doing volunteer work that really helps your community. At Civil Air Patrol’s weekly meetings, you’ll learn teamwork and leadership skills that will serve you from now on.

...

I do not know the Recruiting Regs on this. But it sounds like if you commit yourself to this program you will have a leg up on Leadership and Maturity.

Leadership and Maturity will go a long way to earning PFC in Boot Camp.

Reminder: we use proper ranks, not the generic pay grades like the Army does.
