12 hot jobs

Corps personnel officials are offering bonuses to lateral move into 12 military occupational specialties, which typically have difficulty re-enlisting enough Marines to meet goals. Marines who re-enlist and lat-move into these specialties can expect healthy cash incentives and brisk promotion opportunity.

The following is a breakdown of those 12 jobs. All Selective Re-enlistment Bonus multiples are capped at $40,000 because bonuses for lateral moves are offered to first-term Marines only. In addition to the bonus, every Marine who re-enlists this fiscal year is entitled to $10,000.

To calculate the cash amount of your Selective Re-enlistment Bonus, multiply your monthly base pay by the number of years on your re-enlistment contract (typically four). Multiply that total by the bonus multiple listed below, and that is your bonus.

The deployment-to-dwell ratio identifies how much time the Marine can expect to stay home based on how long he is deployed. A 1:1 ratio means that for every month deployed, that Marine will stay home one month before deploying again. A ratio of 1:2 means he will be home twice as long as he was deployed.
