Thank You Jeremy Staat, And All Service Men And Women
Pittsburgh Steelers Football News

The war in Iraq recently reached its four-year anniversary. We have a lot of Steelers fans wearing the uniform in Iraq as well as Afghanistan.

I don't know how many actual former Steelers have served in the military. Rocky Bleier comes immediately to mind for his service in Vietnam. And I know there is at least one serving in Iraq.

Former defensive lineman and U.S. Marine Lance Corporal Jeremy Staat left for Iraq this week. He deployed with 1st Battalion 3rd Marines for a seven-month mission.

Staat wore the black-and-gold for three years (1998-2000) and started 11 games in 1999. He also played for the St. Louis Rams and in the arena football league.

I want to offer a wish for Staat's safe return, and I call on all Steelers fans to remember Staat today and every day until he comes back ... and after. He's doing it for Iraqis and he's doing it for us.

Thanks, Jeremy Staat and all others serving around the world. See you soon.
