Gunny allocations increase; more MOSs open

The number of staff sergeants the Corps will promote this fiscal year has gone up by 58 since Manpower officials announced gunnery sergeant zones and allocations last month, according to a Corps-wide message released March 23.
Gunnery sergeant zone
The fiscal 2007 gunnery sergeant selection board, which convenes April 17 in Quantico, Va., will select 1,935 staff sergeants for promotion — an increase that reflects “the current requirements of the Marine Corps,” according to MarAdmin 219/07, which announced the 30-day zones and allocations for the board.
In addition to the increased number of allocations, six military occupational specialties that were listed as closed for promotion last month are now open.
The now-open MOSs and their allocations:
*6113, CH-53 helicopter mechanic — 2
*6214, Unmanned aerial vehicle mechanic — 1
*6222, Fixed-wing aircraft power plants mechanic, F-402 — 1
*6314, UAV avionics technician — 1
*7314, UAV air vehicle operator — 2
*7382, Airborne radio operator/Inflight refueling observer/Loadmaster — 1
