Marksmanship Rating

Does a Marine's Marksmanship rating dictate what kind of rifle he is issued when he is deployed to a combat zone? I've read about Designated Marksman being issued M14s ( my personal favorite ), but was wondering if that is restricted to Marines who are 0311's?

Well I don't know if they issue M14 but ever body get the M16. Well unless you MOS carries a pistol or Sniper now that a designated Marksman.

The Designated Marksman is a person filling a specific billet in the infantry. You will be issues the M-16 unless you're filling one of the few roles within the Corps that call for a different weapon.
