Subject: Fw: RECALLING RETIRED MARINES
The January-March issue of Semper Fidelis has a notice from HQ Marine Corps
announcing a recall of retired Marines who have retired and have not been
out of the Corps for more than 5 years.
Upon reading the entire recall notice you find out that the Corps is
looking to pretty much screw over retirees/Veterans who Volunteer to go
back on active duty. The criteria to qualify for recall is:
1. Must have a retirement or transfer to the Fleet Marine Corps Reserve
date not more than five (5) years old (some waivers granted for special
skills).
2. Must be under 60.
3. Must be in a reasonable state of physical condition.
4. Must have serviceable uniforms to include at least camouflage
utilities and
5. MUST BE WILLING TO TEMPORARILY SUSPEND ALL V.A. BENEFITS IF ASSIGNED
AN
ACTIVE-DUTY BILLET.
In addition it says "This is the normal procedure for recalling retired
Marines".
Now personally I love my Corps and Country however it appears the Corps
and
my country don't love us who have served. I can deal with 1-4 however
when
it comes to line 5 above, I have a tendency to really get worried. With
the way the country is looking for reasons to do away with Veterans
Benefits line 5 leads me to believe the U.S. government would take that as
a reason to completely do away with the V.A. benefits for all Veterans.
In
addition there is no mention of any indication the personnel who Volunteer
to serve again will be given a promotion to the next rank like the
recallees whom was not given the option to Volunteer. Over all the
incentives are not being offered up front and it looks like a scam
perpetrated by the government to deny incentives and do away with V.A.
benefits. My best advice to any Veteran to volunteer away any V.A.
benefits that he already has, DO NOT VOLUNTEER AWAY ANYTHING YOU ALREADY
HAVE.
Any one who has already been recalled still keeps his V.A. benefits and is
Promoted to the next rank. Now why should you who Volunteer accept
less. Keep in mind now this is for a 6 month recall. Are you veterans
ready for a royal screwing by the Corps and country you love.
