If I couldn't have been in the military

I help teach a karate class at the local university. Last night one of the students asked, "If you couldn't have been in the military, would you have joined the navy?". I asked her to repeat herself because I thought I misunderstood her but she repeated the same question. Man, I just busted a gut. I thought about some of my rust picker friends and how I can't wait to inform them that they aren't in the military, they are in the navy!
