Pace Seems to Outpace the Rank and File
By Kevin Roeten (03/14/07)

It's not everyday that one is pleasantly surprised at someone's comments. Recently, a Marine General(four star) Peter Pace gave some refreshing and candid truths about homosexual behavior in the armed forces.

It seems as though his courageous words have militant homosexual activists demanding that he apologize. It’s only a matter of time before liberals are clamoring for his resignation as well. But he didn’t say that homosexuals were bad people. He didn’t say that homosexuals couldn’t join the marines, or that they would even make questionable marines. Nor did he resolve to rid homosexuals from the marines.

He correctly compared homosexual acts to acts many consider sexually immoral such as adultery. He was asked for his opinion on this specific subject. When has voicing an opinion when asked rendered anyone unsuitable for his job? It seems as though that does matter to some.

It’s interesting that he defended the military’s ‘don’t ask, don’t tell’ policy first installed by Clinton during his presidency. Pace had no problem with homosexuals serving in the armed forces, as long as they kept their sexual preferences and behaviors private.

Pace understands what makes a fighting force efficient. That’s his primary responsibility. We pay him do be able to do that. Pace knows what overt homosexual practices can do to a ‘well-oiled’ fighting machine. Some actually want the military to reverse the ban on homosexuals who choose to make an issue of their sexual preference and behaviors. Congressman Marty Meehan(D-M****) has introduced a bill to do just that. Maybe he should talk to the parents of slain soldiers who died because they took advantage of that bill if it p****es.

If people have to keep worrying about being politically correct, and not doing the best job possible, inefficiency will come like a roaring tide and wash us away. Hats off to Pace for keeping his priorities in line. He was correct for more reasons than we think.

As a Chemical Engineer, he loves politics, and is an orthodox Catholic. He is a "Guest Columnist"('Asheville Citizen-Times'), a regular columnist(North Carolina Conservative), and a contributor to the book "Americans on Politics, Policy, and Pop Culture". Politics are usually covered with a skew from a Catholic perspective. Generally, he hopes that all who read his columns will be free thinkers, and devoid of the typical traps that befall those run by purely emotions. The facts, and getting those facts, seem the most important factor in all columns that he writes.
