The U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds return to the Air & Sea Show on May 5 and 6, ready to wow the hundreds of thousands of residents and visitors expected to watch the free annual spectacle on the Fort Lauderdale beach.

The high-speed aerial team commemorates the 60th anniversary of the U.S. Air Force. Other past crowd pleasers returning this year include the U.S. Army Golden Knights parachute team and U.S. Navy and Marine Corps "Invasion of the Beach" joint forces military exercise, which will feature various aircraft, amphibious vehicles and Marines storming the beach in full battle gear.

Event-goers can also watch the U.S. Air Force's B-2 Stealth Bomber, A-10 Warthog and F-18 Super Hornet in action. Civilian acts include the Red Baron Pizza Sqaudron and Sean Tucker Team Oracle Challenger.

Visitors who want a special vantage point for the two-day show, which runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on May 5 and 6 along the four miles of beach between Oakland Park Boulevard and Las Olas Boulevard, can purchase $30 tickets for access to a beachfront chalet with concessions and restrooms.

The Air & Sea Show follows Fleet Week, which begins Apr. 30 and brings more than 4,000 sailors to South Florida. Fleet Week will include volunteer events with Habitat for Humanity and festivities at venues including the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino and Beachplace.
