What happens, if anything, if you are overweight when you arrive at recruit training but are fit enough to pass the IST?
whats your height and weight

You get check height/weight the day you leave at MEPS, if you're over they won't let you go. Unless you get a waiver and only so much is waiverable.
You will be labeled a fatbody and royally PT and harrased for 3 months of your life. Also you can't eat as much.

The recruiters informed me at MEPS that if I was at 229 I could ship with a waiver. Let me back up, I went to MEPS 20070207 and enlisted weighing 238lbs at 72 1/2 in. I have to be at 219lbs to ship out and 229lbs to ship with a waiver. But, if I ship out at 229lbs I would have to be able to pass the pullups and crunches section. I ship 20070402. Good luck to you.

Quick question.
Im 5'8, 210 pounds. Im supposed to weigh 191 when I ship Sunday, but it will more likely be 205. Despite having excess fat, im in the best shape of my life. I run 5 miles in one hour flat every day, Do 8 pull ups - the right way, and 65 crunches in two minutes. Should I wait and loose more weight, or am in good enough shape to go?

You'll wear a little tag that says you are on a diet. You'll have to eat specific foods at chow and the DIs will make sure you spend extra time on the quarter deck to strip the fat from your body.

While you are in the best shape of your life, you will get better. And, be prepared to get rid of that weight. Also be prepared to be hungry.
