How often do enlisted Marines PCS? I'm not sure that PCS is the term that Marines use but, thats the only one I know of so, sorry, I'm a child of the Air Force.

PCS means Permentant Change of Station. IN other words new orders teling you where your next duty assignment is. Simple terms so us Marines won't get confused.LOL

lol Sorry Sir, I didn't mean to come off that way, I just thought the Corps might have a different term for it, like the Corps uses the term MOS and the Air Force uses AFS i believe. But back to my question, is a Marines term at one base based upon a set time, like 1 or 2 years or however long? Or is it just being stationed at one base until you are given new orders to another base?

I think I moved once a year after school - I had a year and a couple of months left when I got back from Iwakuni so I had a little longer at the last one.
Never knew how that worked................I think somebody throws darts at a board with different places on it when your name is drawn out of a hat.

I didn't take it negitively at all. I am saying we Marines usually need a compass and map to get around LOL (land nav. you will learn this at bootcamp). Depending on your MOS and the needs of a particular duty station will depend on how often you move. Inor as a general rule about 24 months but there are excepetions. I know this sucks to keep you life in order but life is like that too.

I did not PCS after MOS school. In my MOS you usually stayed at one unit unless you were sent to Oki, in which case it was a one year tour. Other than that, things tended to rotate every three years for you.

I PCS'd 14 times in 30 years, so that's about every 2 1/2 years or so.

it also depends on your MOS and the the numbers CMC tells the units. I know my Gunny was in the same unit all his career. Never did a B billet at all.

I PCS'd 4 times in 7. Never a dull moment
