I was thinking about joining the marines but I have around 25 tattoos. I was told by a friend that in certain states it doesnt matter how many tattoos you have and that they will automatically give you a waiver, while some states won't approve you. Is this true?

The MEPS are the same throughout maybe your firend was talking about a national guard or something. But as far as the Marine Corps it's rare to make a whole enlistment w/o getting at least one. and as long as they arent on your forehead or neck saying socialism rules i think youll be fine

well no, none on my forehead. the thing is, this really isn't about me...it actually is about my friend who has a lot of tattoos, and i'm just trying to understand what is going on. He said he wasn't given the waiver here in new york because of all of his tattoos, but that the staff sargeant told him that in san diego it doesnt matter how many tattoos you have, they will accept you. The thing that I dont understand about that is, if it is the military, how could one state deny you due to your tattoos, but another will take you in?? Really appreciate the help...

I think that is more of a way to get away from home....

25 tats? I think you are going to have a problem, unless they are really tiny and in out of the way places.

The state you are in doesn't matter, it's a Marine Corps Regulation, which also takes from the Dept of Defense Regulations on tats'. The Marine Corps may be a bit stricter, but I'm not 100 percent sure. Nonetheless, I think 25 is going to be pushing the limit no matter the state.
