Local Interstate Could Be Renamed In Honor Of Fallen Marines
New legislation is calling to rename a local interstate to honor local veterans.
Several local politicians are introducing a new bill calling for Interstate 70 in Washington County to be designated as the Kilo Company 325 U.S. Marine Corps Highway in honor of four Marines who died.
One of the Marines was an Avella-area native.
Lance Corp. Ryan Kovacicek was killed during a mortar attack last July in Iraq.
Kovacicek was a graduate of Bishop-Canevin High School, where he played on the hockey team.
Kovacicek joined the Marine Reserves while attending Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
