This is just something I have been thinking about. I discharged in 01 because I wanted a family and didnt want to worry about getting transfered or shipped out. Now 6 years later I have a family and...

My best advice is to speak with a prior service recruiter. Nowadays, they are sending folks back in at their previous rank, but you will lose some (if not all) your time in grade. You won't lose ANY time in service tho.

You may, or may not, be able to pick your location. That will be up to the needs of the Corps.

Is the 6 year off to much?

No. Not as long as you are physically able to do it. I went back in on AD as a re-tread in 97 after being out since 89.

One note, it's not going to be the Corps you remembered. However, I do not regret going back in for a minute.

01 to 07 is not as much of a difference. I have seen on here its not the Marine Corps you left a few times. What do you mean by that?

Things change, the way you were used to doing things change, the people even change. It's not the same as you remember.
