NEWTON — Friends and family will gather to mourn and remember Sgt. William J. Pascal, 27, of Newton, on Thursday after he and another Marine were killed in an car accident in Randolph on Friday night that left three more Marines injured.

Pascal was the husband of Susan H. Pascal and the father of William J. Pascal Jr. and his unborn child due in July, according to an obituary from the Farnelli Funeral Home in Williamstown.

Pascal was born in Woodbury and grew up in Clayton before enlisting in the U.S. Marine Corps, where he served in South Carolina and Japan before he was assigned to Newton. He graduated from Delsea High School in 1998, where he played soccer and tennis.

He was a member of the Marine Corps League and the American Legion, and was an avid poker player. His funeral will be held at the funeral home in Williamstown before burial with full military honors at the Gloucester County Veterans Memorial Cemetery.

Fellow Marine Eric Maul, 31, who lived at Picatinny Arsenal in Rockaway, also died in the car accident along Franklin Road at 8:35 p.m. on Friday. Funeral arrangements were still pending as of Tuesday afternoon, said Sgt. Kevin Hayner, a Marines spokesman.

The three Marines injured in the crash are still at Morristown Memorial Hospital.

Nicholas Genderon, 26, who also lives at Picatinny, was listed in fair condition on Tuesday, a hospital spokeswoman said. Glendale Santamaria, 30, of Jersey City, and Thomas Sweeney, 27, of Lakeville, Pa., remain critical.
