i saw the most heartbreaking site today.
As i went to say goodbye to my husband before he deployed, i noticed a Female Marine with a baby on her hip. Watching this mother spending her last moments with her 12 month old little boy and her husband was the saddest thing i think i have ever seen. watching her get on that bus and stick her face to the glass and seeing it fog up with her tears as her child waved and said byebye mama was something that made me have more respect for the women in our military than ever before.
I have two friends who are FEMALE MARINES, one is married to a Marine and the other is married to a (better be careful how i word this) Marine who is out on medical discharge and they are some of hte strongest women I know, they are both good moms and wives, but thankfully neither of them will be deploying since they are both expecting children soon. Seeing their roles i have a great respect for all female Marines but this woman is truly my newest hero. I do not know her name just that she is one of the FEW and the PROUD and she has more HONOR, COURAGE, and COMMITMENT than anyone I have ever seen.

I love my :marine:

Not to take anything away from Mom Marine, but Dad Marines often feel the same way too.

My wife couldn't read or write English. When I was deployed we corresponded by audio tapes, reel to reel tapes, on a player the size of a cigar box.

One side of the tape was her responding to me. The other side was her coaching our two year old son. I always played that side first.

When I responded, one side was to her, and the other side was to him.

One time, he did something wrong, so I gave him pep talk about listening to his mother, and making me proud of him.

When the response tape came back, I heard my wife asking him;"Come on Mike, don't you want to talk to daddy?" His response was a very angry "NO!"

I visited with him anyway, and when the turnaround tape came back, we were friends again.
