I have a couple questions to ask as I have been trying to get some answers as to the recruitment age limit of a Marine Reservist who wants to re-enlist back into the USMC.

This Marine is an officer and is presently still a reservist. So I would like to know if there is an age limit for Reservist Marines who have had active duty in Special Forces. Is there an age limit? And do the USMC have waivers on those who have been in Special Forces?

I've read up the posts concerning this issue on another thread, but unfortunately I cannot post on there because I am new here. So this has meant that I have had to post my own thread just to find this out.

This is very important to me as this fella wants to re-enlist and I would just like to know a thing or two about his prospects. And whether or not if he does re-enlist that he will shipped out to Iraq or Afghanistan. He is 41 years old presently and I thought that the age limit was 38. But he has been telling me that he wants to re-enlist again.

I spoke with a friend of mine in the USAF last night and he says that if my fella wants to go then I should let him go as he has already made up his mind that he wants to.

Am I talking nonsense here? Look I wouldn't stand in the way if a Marine wants to re-enlist again. heven forbide if I did that as the USMC means alot to him. And this Marine means alot to me and I just need to know if he will be posted to Iraq or Afghanistan.

I would be grateful for any advice.

Thankyou

Midge

At this point...................more than likely, yes he will have to go.

The Marines do not have Special Forces. If he is in the reserves he doesn't need to "reenlist" because he is in. He would have to have a component change from reserve to active duty. And officers do not enlist, they are commissioned. There is a difference. I would question how truthful your friend has been with you.

The Marines do not have Special Forces.I know they don't have their own yet. Besides I thought there was talk of having their own at Camp Lejeune. If he is in the reserves he doesn't need to "reenlist" because he is in. Okay. So he'd get called up anyway if required by the US govt. Yes? Alot of men are being called up again to do active service out in Iraq. And if Bush is talking about sending more troops out then it's possible that he would be called up.
He would have to have a component change from reserve to active duty. I see. And officers do not enlist, they are commissioned. There is a difference. Yes I know the dif. between enlistment and commissioned. I would question how truthful your friend has been with you.Thankyou that's all I need to know. I have been questioning this for a long time and I just wanted to hear if from an experienced Marine.
