Unfortunately my father has passed way before his time (1990) at the ripe old age of 38. He was a very proud Marine and Vietnam Vet. As the story goes he never said a word about it.
All I know is that he was a Helicopter mechanic who volunteered to gun in one of those Sea Knights. The back of the bible says, USS Tripoli, USS New Orleans, Da Nang, Phu Bai, Marble Mountain, Hue.
I know my father was an extremely friendly guy. I just want to know everything about his service. The good, the bad, and the ugly. One more thing, he was a runner. I know in boot camp he ran the 2mi in 9:52:2 and 9:27:7...I have one newspaper clipping that verifies this. The only other thing I have is the pictures from what looks like one big party on Okinawa or the Philipines...lots of black light posters of Jimi hendrix and candles burning if you're picking up what I'm putting down.
Thanks alot. I appreciate any info.
