The U.S. isn’t winning in Iraq because the politicians won’t allow it

Retired Air Force Colonel Tom Snodgrass has one of the best articles so far summarizing why the U.S. isn’t winning in Iraq. He provides ample evidence showing that the problem is politicians don’t support a full war, which was the problem in Vietnam. He points out that the “War on Terror” is a misleading label, since it reminds people of the “war on drugs” or “war on poverty,” permitting people to go about their daily lives as if there wasn’t a real war going on - hence they’re less supportive of a full-blown deployment. But since Iran is providing the Iraqi insurgents with weapons and other tactical support, we’re already essentially fighting Iran as well as Iraq. This is a bigger war than people realize. If we continue focusing our military efforts only on Iraq and not Iran, Iran will continue to funnel support to Iraq, undermining our efforts.

An underlying problem behind the “War on Terror” or WWIV as Colonel Snodgrass calls it, is that people think these terrorists can be fought in the manner of a regular war, under the somewhat outdated rules of the Geneva Convention - e.g. targeted strikes & avoiding civilian targets. But terrorism is completely different, it’s a much harder war to fight, because the terrorists aren’t located in one landmass area we can blow up like Nagasaki & Hiroshima, they are all over the world and they hide in civilian neighborhoods. Ironic how the left has no problem referring to it as a “War on Terror” but won’t authorize full-scale deployment.

This is one of the best I have read so far take a look at the full article at the URL link below.

On the one hand he says, ".....terrorists aren't located in one landmass area....". To that I agree! But then the statement, "Ironic how the left....won't authorize full-scale deployment". If terrorist are located all over the world as I agree that they are then it follows---WHERE do we send this full-scale deployment to? It's a different kind of war for sure, we need to stop trying to fight it in a conventional war fashion!
