Families say farewell to 42 Las Vegas Marines headed to Iraq
LAS VEGAS The families of 42 Marines from the Las Vegas reserves said farewell to their sons, brothers and husbands yesterday.
The Marines left for a seven-month mission in Iraq's volatile Anbar province.For several of the reservists, it will be their second tour of duty in Iraq.The Marines are being sent to relieve a unit from the eastern United States and take up the task of hauling supplies to support infantry troops.Lance Corporal Mike Balgan says he's going back because Iraq is a poor country and the Marines are helping Iraqis build a free nation.The Marines are expected to arrive in a few days.
