Lt Col Richard (Dick) Galbraith WW11 Corsair pilot, shot down twice and a PT boat that rescued him was blown up as well. He lived an honorable life of 83 years. My Dad was everything you would expect from a Marine. Versatality, trustworthiness, singleness, tenacity, courage, faithfulness & self sacrifice.
A full military funeral with Marine honor guard, trumpest, guitar singing preacher, bag piper and 21 gun salute. It was the most inspiring funeral I have ever attended, as everyone afterwords kept repeating to me. He was enterned at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, Oregon.

Salutes, Respect & Semper Fi's for your father, Marc.
The more I discover about the actions of Marines in the 20th Century wars, the deeper my respect & admiration.

I'm sorry for you loss.
I've been to that cemetary... My father received services there as well - Per the instructions of my mother, after her death we are to dispose of both their ashes and, at that time, my father will be able to have a plaque with his name at the cemetary. While it's worth the waite, I am looking forward to my fathers name being included with those others who honored their country....

Marc,
Understand how it may feel to loose your father. Lost my dad just over a year ago. He too is buried at Willamette National Cementry. The staff up there were terrific to my sister, stepmother, and myself. Its a beauitful place overlooking the City of Portland. I took my father ashes aside, walked up to the flag post and "him" and I had a little chat, just the two of us. Then we started the interment.
Your father demonstrated courage in the face of danger. He was truly a Marine amounst Marines.
