Marines getting Osprey aircraft back in flight

JACKSONVILLE, N.C. Marine Corps crews are getting some M-V-22 Ospreys back in the air this week.
KOLD-TV, AZ

That's after the fleet of 46 tilt-rotor aircraft was grounded last week because of concern over computer chips.A faulty chip was found in a new Osprey being tested at the Bell-Boeing plant in Amarillo, Texas. The fault was in a circuit that lets three flight control computers back up each other.Since the aircraft were grounded, maintenance crews have checked flight control computers in each aircraft.A Marine Corps spokesman says the problem isn't expected to delay the first deployment of the Osprey later this year.Development of the aircraft was set back by two fatal crashes in 2000, one in Marana that killed all 19 Marines aboard and another in Jacksonville, North Carolina, that killed four Marines.
