View Full Version : Sgt. Mike Cartoons
I wonder if anyone of ya'll remember these cartoons: :D
I thought this one was appropriate for the current situation. I have a few more if you want to see them, just let me know.
Bring 'em on. I have enjoyed Sgt Mike for years. My favorite is the one where he shows the difference between the VC and the civilian.
Ok Jim,
Here is another one
Jim,
I messed up. I am going to try again.

Just to keep the record straight, I am the ORIGINAL Sgt. Mike and some of those cartoons used to really **** me off.
However, sometimes the truth hurt. Whenever a new one came out, I had to answer for it. The skipper used to call me in on the carpet and ask me to explain myself.
"Huh?" was not an acceptable answer.
But a good time was had by all.
No, I never considered changing my name. I got out of the firing line when I made Staff and Sgt. Mike was still a buck Sgt.
Thanks for the Sgt Mike cartoons, Newb. Hadn't thought of them in years.
How are things in beautiful downtown Ozona? I recently moved to Oklyhomy from Pecos.

NEWB, keep 'em coming.

Sorry Top, I am trying to find the one I have where the first sergeant is shaking sgt. mike and saying: "you had better shape up or i will have you busted to Lt. :D
Anyway here is another one ya'll:
FYI on Sgt Mike:
These cartoons used to be in the Navy Times in the early 70s. Cut more than a few of them out of that paper whenever I could get my hands on a copy (too cheap to buy it at the time). Have to dig thru my archives in the basement and find them. Will post them when I do.
By the way I beleieve the Navy Times may have had a collection of these cartoons published in a book.

These were great cartoons. My favorite was one of a big hand-to-hand fight between Marines and VC troops. Sgt Mike had a radio on his back, headset to his ear, and was kicking a VC straight up into the air. The caption was something like, "Honey, how many times have I told you not to call me at work?"

NEWB I you have the copy of Sgt Mike stepping over the paddy or wall rolling up the sleeve of the arm holding his M-14 by the barrel. Two marines in the background are saying, "Yeah, Sarge knows he has been wounded, but he thinks he knows which one did it," I would appreciate seeing it posted.
