Not only did I see G.W. Bush today in Jacksonville....I got to shake his hand. I went to the naval base with the local I&I staff. They put them and ME to work. I had to secure the gate that was used to escort the White House press into the seating area. Then we had seats at center stage. The President made a statement that made the place go nuts...He said:

"So far more than 3,000 suspected terrorists have been arrested in many countries. Just about that number met a different kind of fate. They are not a problem anymore."

LMAO @ GW....That was GREAT! Then as he was leaving I got to shake his hand. One of the other Marines got a picture of it as well as a picture with me in front of the Presdential Limo. Soon as I get them I will post them.

President thanks Mayport sailors

From staff

Inspiration, gratitude and a decisive resolve marked the president's speech this afternoon in his second visit to Jacksonville, perhaps within days or weeks of war with Iraq.

Thousands of sailors, families and civilians at Mayport Naval Station gathered for President George W. Bush's roughly 30-minute speech. The president had earlier talked business and economy at Dagher Printing off Beach Boulevard.

But donned in a Navy flight jacket, Bush's words to the sailors were deliberate and strong about the U.S. military's might and settling matters in Iraq.

"It is a great task for our navy and our entire military. We know we can depend on you because this United States military is second to none," he said to great applause.

"Ever since World War II, Mayport has been providing the finest services to the finest fleet," Bush said. "Now you're called to defend our freedom and the security of America against a new kind of enemy."

He said this enemy targets the innocent and has no rules.

"This enemy will not be restrained by mercy or by conscience. This enemy will be stopped by the might and weight of the United States and our friends and allies.

The terrorists brought this war to us and now we're taking it back to them."

More cheers followed as he continued, "We're on their trail, we're smoking them out, we're tracking them down, hunting them down one by one all across the world."

He said that 12 years ago Saddam Hussein agreed to disarm as a condition of suspending the Gulf War. But he is not disarming, he is deceiving.

"He used all this time to build and hide weapons," the president said. "He's stalling, hoping to buy another 12 years. He's wrong."

Bush said the United States will not accept a serious and mounting threat to itself, friends and allies.

"Military force is always this nation's last option," he said. "Yet if force becomes necessary to disarm Iraq ... to secure our country and to keep peace, America will act deliberately, America will act decisively, America will act victoriously with the world's greatest military."

The biggest round of applause followed. But Bush made it clear that he understands not everyone agrees with war or the United States.

"Our military will be fighting the oppressors of Iraq, not the people of Iraq. America's military fights not to conquer, but to liberate."

He ended his speech confidently reiterating the nation has an obligation.

"Today at the dawn of a new century, America is still a leader in freedom's cause. And our generation is called to a central role ... In freedom's cause, we will prevail."

He then made his way into the crowd shaking hands, lifting babies and patting people on the back before finishing his visit with a lunch with sailors aboard the USS Philippine Sea.

LMAO!!! Cook you got WAY to much time on your hands. Actually 5 other Marines and I were sitting in VIP bleachers directly in front of him about 30 meters. The bleachers sat about 100 and we were the only ones in it. Those squids were afriad to come near us. All the yutting and barking, they didn't know what to do.

Actually everyone except 1 gentlemen in the Secret Service was pretty cool. The one in question wasn't to happy when I shook the President's hand. It was as he was leaving and boarding the ship...I kind of shocked him cause I came out of no where and extended my hand through the steel ladder. The President looked a little surprised as well but he shook it. I am sure that would be a nightmare for a SS agent. He came and reprimanded me afterward. Told me not to do it again...LOL....The President was gone, how would I do it again.

As for Bones and the Toothless wonder-Cas....You are both just jealous of me. Bones because of my charm and age, Cas cause I have all my teeth and a small backside...LMAO! I know there will be incoming now....General Quarters! General Quarters!
