2nd LAAD Marines deploy to Iraq today

JACKSONVILLE, N.C. — More than 160 Marines with 2nd Low Altitude Air Defense Battalion are scheduled to leave for Iraq today, according to a press release.
The battalion, based at Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, N.C., is headed to Al Asad Air Base, where its leathernecks will provide security for the 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing.
Elements of the wing are in Iraq along with the Camp Lejeune, N.C.-based II Marine Expeditionary Force.
