Hello everyone,
I joined the site a few weeks ago, and I decided that before I start posting, I might as well introduce myself. My name is Vickie and I'm an 18-year-old college student from Baltimore, MD. I enlisted in the Marines in November, and I will be leaving for Parris Island on May 21, 2007. I'm doing the 92-day reservist thing for now.
Anyway, I just wanted to say hello to all the Marines and poolees. I hope to find a lot of helpful information here and to get to know you all better.

welcome aboard - don't let these guys around here scare you (there are very few of us women around here) - they're the most helpful bunch.

Welcome Aboard Leatherneck. We are all glad to see you on here. Any questions please don't be afraid to ask. Kim and the other WMs here can answer your questions very well about WM recruit training. But we as Marines will be glad to answer questions for you. Feel free to browse through the Poolee forum as a lot of questions have been asked and answered there.

I would like to extend some possible advice. I don't know about your situation/desire to go to college ASAP, but I would really suggest not doing 92 day reservist, and just finish all your training in one lump. Unless you're really set on, or have to go to college in August 2007. I did the 92 day reservist thing, and I kind of regret it, because I won't be MOS qualified until this summer, and it's kind of annoying being in a unit and not being capable of doing your job, and requiring so much OJT. Besides that, you'll get to college with some more money in your pocket, and you won't miss your 2 week ADT with your unit in the summer.

Thanks for the advice, but I'm already in college, so I gotta do what I gotta do. I don't really want to be a 92 day reservist, but it makes my parents happier, and I'd rather just get college out of the way early, especially since I've already started it.

Very well. You're feelings about it are the same as mine were when I joined, I know how you feel.
