Reserve officers are needed to prepare enlisted Marines for the program that transitions enlisted leathernecks to officers, according to an official with officer programs at Quantico, Va.

Each summer, the Marine Corps Enlisted Commissioning Education Program Prep School readies students for MECEP’s “fairly independent” college environment, Maj. John Orsmond said.

The school, which is inactive the rest of the year, needs Reserve or Individual Ready Reserve officers with education backgrounds to come on active-duty special work orders to teach, Orsmond said. The ideal candidates would be college professors looking to log drill time this summer, he added.

Instructors selected by the school will teach college-level English, math and science at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego from May 29 to Aug.3.

Résumés should be e-mailed to the school’s director, Lt. Col. Michael Moffett, by the end of February.
