‘Springer’ guard to host talk show

Steve Wilkos, a security guard on The Jerry Springer Show, will be the host of a new, one-hour talk show. Wilkos, a former police officer who served in the Marines, will offer advice and dole out "his own version of justice," publicists said.
The show, as yet untitled, will be taped in front of an audience in the same studio where Springer is shot.
Wilkos has filled in for Springer, but the new show will have a different tone from Springer, said Barry Wallach, president of NBC Universal Domestic Television Distribution.
"Steve is an ex-cop who won’t be afraid to read guests the riot act," Wallach said. "This is tough love; the victims won’t be cuddled. Sometimes they need to be yelled at just as much as the villains."
