Third ID Soldiers Train on Marines' Osprey

Soldiers in the Coastal Empire are getting some special training. And to do that, the First Brigade Combat Team from the Third ID is teaming up with the US Marines.

The Marine Corps gave two Army battalions the chance to become familiar with the Marine Corps' MV-22 Osprey. The Osprey is able to take off and land like a helicopter, plus fly like a plane. The Army troops and the Marines say this type of training helps both branches of the military.

"Anytime we can learn more from each other," said Marine Sgt. Maj. Grant Vanoostron, "we're going to shoot, move and communicate as one element, regardless of what name we were above our breast pockets."

"We're going back to Iraq and as all the training we receive in the military, this is gear towards us being better prepared so that we can all come home 12 months down the line," said Army Staff Sgt. Timothy Stuart.

These same soldiers training are heading over to Iraq as early as next week.
