JACKSONVILLE, N.C. — More than 200 families of leathernecks with II Marine Expeditionary Force heading to Iraq this month are receiving free computers.

Dell has donated 250 desktop computers to families of Camp Lejeune-based Marines and sailors to help keep the families electronically connected to their troops while deployed to Iraq.

“This meets the entire demand that was requested,” said Dan Shannon, president and founder of Operation Homelink.

Dell employees will distribute the computers to families at the United Service Organizations location in Jacksonville on Tuesday, marking Operation Homelink’s 2,000th computer giveaway.

This is the second round of free computers distributed to families with Marines and sailors in II MEF. Officials with the MEF are preparing to assume control of Marines in Iraq from the Camp Pendleton, Calif.-based I MEF.
