Conway to visit Beaufort, Parris Island this week

By Kimberly Johnson

The Marine Corps’ top officer will continue making rounds this week, visiting leathernecks at bases and stations in South Carolina and Georgia.

Commandant Gen. James Conway will travel to South Carolina on Tuesday to visit Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort and Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island. He’ll then visit Marine Corps Logistics Base Albany, Ga., a Corps spokesman said.

This represents the third major fleet visit for Conway since assuming command of the Corps in November. Late last year, he visited with Marines in North Carolina before taking a separate trip to Iraq.

During the fleet visits, Conway takes questions from Marines during scheduled “town hall” meetings while explaining his Commandant’s Planning Guidance, a document that lays out his priorities and goals for the Corps.
