This is more or less an introduction...

My name is Josh King

My story isnt all the interesting,

I had always told everyone that I would serve my country if they needed me.
Then one day it just hit me, good American boys are in Iraq dying so everyone else back home can scoff the war effort and America itself. I started to get annoyed with these ungrateful kids not standing up for the pledge or the national anthem, and uneducated followers who without any knowledge bash the President.
I started to tell my friends of my intentions,
If only I had a nickle for every person who said I'd never make it or couldnt understand why I would want to join. :)

When I starting thinking about this decision seriously only one thing came to mind...The Marine Corps
I got alot of people telling me to choose the other services because they could offer more money, because the Marines brainwash, and yet again I could never handle the training.
I felt that no other branch could do for me what the Marines could. Nothing else would push me harder, increase my mental capabilities, enhanced my leadership skills, and shape my character like the Marine Corps.

So I called up a recruiter and set up a meeting. Waiting for day held more anticipation than Christmas morning. Monday evening came and I talked to him but who was I kidding I was sold before I even walked through those doors. Three days later I was at the recruiting office celebrating the 231st birthday of the Marine Corps. Sunday night I was at the hotel and Monday I was at MEPS swearing in.

Since then I have been staying motovated and going to PT every week. The harder they push me the better I feel and the more excitied I get for boot.

I am dedicated to earning my place in the Marine Corps along side the rest of you.

Welcome Poolee, you live in Battleground, WA?

Please make sure to read the rules as they apply here heavily and you will be removed without warning if you break them. The Marines here are very educated and will help you with any questions you have, dont be afraid to ask. Good luck on your quest and I hope you earn your title.

I know exactly what you mean. I'm having trouble getting referrals because most people in these parts read the news and give me a bad rap for even joining. I just can't believe my classmates somedays. Just stay motivated man and let everything else go.

Thank you all for the welcome.

I have "secured" my MOS as a 0231, Intel specialist. I believe I will be taking the DLAB at a later date to see if I have what it takes to be a linguist.

I do live in Battle Ground, WA. Are you familiar with the area Kildars?

JIPeterson: Yea I just let it go, some people just dont understand that as privileged American youth it is our duty to give back to the country that has provided us with so many opportunities.

Thank you again for the welcome.

If anybody could or would do it, it woudn't be the Marines. There is a reason we are a brotherhood even beyond discharge (besides being a bit crazy). We know we have done something not everyone...
