KUWAIT, Feb 2 (Reuters) - U.S. marines crawl through Kuwait's desert with M-16 rifles in fierce urban combat drills to prepare for all types of battle.

But it's impossible for them to predict what Iraqi President Saddam Hussein would do if cornered.

"This will not be a face-to-face war. You will hear about a couple of terrorist attacks here, a couple of bombs there," said 20-year-old mechanic Khassan Khaadiyev of Walnut Creek, California, sitting in an amphibious assault vehicle.

"Some people are naive. They think it will be easy."

Thousands of U.S. troops are arriving every week in Kuwait with a powerful array of hardware from Howitzers to M1A1 tanks.
