Lejeune Marines to deploy to Iraq on Saturday

About 300 leathernecks and sailors with Camp Lejeune, N.C.-based II Marine Expeditionary Force will leave for Iraq on Saturday as part of Regimental Combat Team 2, according to a II MEF release.
The Marines and sailors, who will make up RCT-2’s headquarters element, will deploy to western Anbar province. RCT-2 will focus on counterinsurgency operations and training Iraqi forces, according to the release.
This is RCT-2’s third deployment to Iraq since 2003.
