Camp Pendleton Marines Fire Cannon Salute To Gerald Ford

Marines fired cannon salutes Wednesday in honor of former President Gerald R. Ford, who died this week at his Rancho Mirage home.
A single howitzer cannon was fired at the top and bottom of each hour from 8 a.m. until sunset by Battery G, 2nd Battalion, 11th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division.
Marines of the regiment's 3rd Battalion will fire a 21-gun salute on Friday at Palm Springs International Airport, where Ford's casket will be placed aboard a flight to Andrews Air Force Base, Md., for services in Washington, D.C.
Ford, 93, was the nation's 38th president.
