Another clause of my debate on the draft for my High School english class is whether in an emergency situation, and the draft is reinstated, should 16 year olds be able to be drafted, or should the minimum age be set at 18yr olds? Again, think of your response carefully. Thanks.

At 16 most have not finished high school.
With todays weapons, an education is even more important then ever before.

Being in the military is more then pulling a trigger.
Most training will take about a year. Some will take much more, few will take less.

It is important that the trainee have a good background in general education to grasp the high tech tools he/she will use.

Think about it. 16 is wet behind the ears. 17 is moist. 18 is begining to dry. At 19 and beyond is the most realistic age.
19 is when most training will end. Hum, seems to work out.

So, 18 is your answer.

I agree with greenside on this, but I think 19 is a better age this is when the male body tends to physically peak out and the brain actually starts to function as an adult we don' need a bunch af kids stomping around with machine guns that haven't finished puberty yet. and educaion is definitely gonna keep the body bags empty for a while, there are enough mistakes to be made without I didn't know being one of them. I myself started at 17 I hit my first 300 pft and then some on my 19th birthday.
