New details in lance corporal’s nonhostile death

A lance corporal serving in Iraq’s Anbar province fell ill and died Dec. 6 while serving in Iraq, family friends and the military said.
Lance Cpl. Cody Watson, 21, of Oxford, Ala., a field radio operator by trade, was assigned to 2nd Battalion, 10th Marines, at the time of his death, according to the release.
Friends of Watson’s family said a medical team was unable to revive him when he collapsed Dec. 6, according to The Anniston Star. The cause of death was not immediately known, they said.
The Defense Department said Monday that Watson’s death is under investigation.
